Why a written standard
Many directories sell placement, and buyers have learned to discount them. On this register the Standard is the gate. It is documented, it is applied by a person, and it is reviewed every year. No firm can buy an entry, a position, or the seal.
What we check
A real IT services firm of three to 250 people
An active, trading business with identifiable principals that sells delivery to its own clients. Not a shell, a brand front, a lead reseller, or an individual contractor placed into other firms. Firms of one or two people may be listed through full verification only. There is no minimum trading period, because the evidence requirement does that work.
Evidence of delivery, from any two routes
Any two of the following: a current vendor partner tier, certified consultants on staff, a public sector contract award, a vendor marketplace listing, a client confirmation, or a published case study. A current vendor tier at a meaningful level counts as two on its own. Many good firms work under confidentiality, so no single route is required.
Client confirmation, not interrogation
Where a client confirmation is used, the client answers one short form confirming the work took place. It takes about two minutes and the client is never named publicly. Work delivered as a subcontractor may be confirmed by the prime contractor.
True specialisation
The entry says what the firm actually does. Claimed specialisms must match delivered work, and generalist claims are trimmed to the evidence.
Standards of conduct
Appropriate insurance for the work and clear engagement terms, declared by the firm in writing. We ask to see them whenever a concern is raised.
How it is applied
Every firm on the register starts as a base entry compiled from public information. Any firm may claim its entry, correct it, or ask for removal. A claimed firm may then apply to be verified. The evidence is reviewed by a person against the criteria above, edge cases are decided by the registrar, and the outcome is recorded against the entry. Verified status is reviewed annually and may be withdrawn if the Standard stops being met.
